Prior to the founding of Goode Partners in 2005, Mr. Ferreira was President and CEO of the Woodclyffe Group, LLC (www.woodclyffe.com), an international business consulting and interim management firm comprised of senior consumer product executives. Woodclyffe's areas of expertise include: business performance improvement, foreign market entry and development, supply chain, marketing, branding and advertising. Prior to founding Woodclyffe in 2001, Mr. Ferreira was Co-COO, President of International and a member of the board of directors of Avon Products Inc. (NYSE: AVP), where he worked for 21 years.
Mr. Ferreira began his career in retail at the Marcade Group in 1978. In 1980 Mr. Ferreira joined Avon and was rapidly promoted to the head of finance and operations for the Avon Division, reporting to the company's President. With the help of his leadership, Avon initiated a successful turnaround, thwarted several unsolicited and undervalued take-over offers and launched numerous successful growth initiatives.
In 1990, Mr. Ferreira made the transition from finance and operations to general management when he became an operating officer responsible for the company's businesses in thirteen Latin American countries. In the ensuing ten years he moved around the world in roles of President, CEO and/or Chairman improving the performance of existing companies, opening new markets/businesses and growing Avon's businesses to be a leading beauty and direct selling company in every market in which it did business.
In 1999, Mr. Ferreira became Co-COO of the corporation, President of Avon International and a member of the board of directors. In this position he had full responsibility for all of Avon's international businesses encompassing over 40 subsidiaries and almost 100 distributorships in Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa (2/3rds of the corporation). He also was responsible for global strategic planning, market research, new business development and new markets. During his tenure, every international region increased local currency sales (at double-digit rates) and improved gross and operating margins; Avon Wellness was successfully developed and launched in 19 markets (including the U.S.) generating $150 million of sales in the year of launch; and Avon's stock price increased 45%.
Other positions Mr. Ferreira held at Avon include: President Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, based in the United Kingdom, from 1998 to 1999; President Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong, from 1995 to 1998; Chairman and President Spain and Portugal, based in Spain, from 1993 to 1995; and Area Vice President Americas Region, where he was responsible for 13 Latin American markets, from 1990 to 1993.
Mr. Ferreira currently serves on the board of directors of Rosa Mexicano and Silver Diner. Former board of director memberships include: Americas Lemonade Stand, Applied Tech Products, Avon Products Inc. (NYSE: AVP), Chuy's (NASDAQ: CHUY), Discovery Toys, Eos International, Nu Skin Enterprises (NYSE: NUS), Princess House, Regal Greetings and Gifts, Skullcandy (NASDAQ: SKUL), Strike Holdings, Talbot Perkins Children Services and the WFDSA CEO Council. Prior Advisory Board roles include: Organic Avenue, TA Sciences and True North Equity.
Mr. Ferreira received a B.S. degree in Accounting from Central Connecticut State University and an M.B.A. degree in Finance and International Business from Fordham University.
